Zweir, Francis X., 60, of Pemberton Avenue, died Monday at Bayberry Commons in Pascoag, RI, after a brief illness.
Born in South Kingstown, he was a son of Stephen J., Jr. and Kathryn M. (Spry) Zweir of Jamestown.
Francis graduated from DeLaSalle High School in Newport, RI and attended St. Leo’s College in Tampa, FL. He enlisted in the Air Force for a time after high school and he traveled and worked several jobs around the country. In recent years he had worked in various positions in Jamestown.
An art enthusiast, Mr. Zweir enjoyed drawing and painting. He was an avid reader and gardener. He enjoyed writing letters to the editor of the Jamestown Press. Besides his parents he leaves two brothers, Stephen J. Zweir, III of Lebanon, CT and Michael P. Zweir of Oakland, CA; three sisters, Mildred M. Zweir of Amherst, MA, Kathryn M. Zweir of Holyoke, MA and Annmary Zweir of West Greenwich; four aunts, Isabel Clement of West Warwick, Margaret Curran of Old Saybrook, CT, Eleanor Dahl of St. Petersburg, FL and Frances Hennigan and her husband James of Cumberland; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by many wonderful and devoted friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10am in St. Mark Church, 60 Narragansett Avenue, Jamestown. Burial will follow in St. Mark Cemetery.
