Grace E. Smith Obituary

Grace E. Smith (Dowding) 78, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, September 2, 2018. She was the wife of the late Howard A. “Smitty” Smith, Sr. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Cornelius W. and Maybelle G. (Spelman) Dowding. Grace was the loving mother of Howard A. Smith, Jr., Mark W. Smith and her daughter-in-law Linda, Kimberly E. Bryce and her husband John, and the late Kevin R. Smith; loving grandmother of Kerri, LeeAnn, Andrea, Howard III, Joshua (Lisa), Jessica, Tiffany, Jennifer, Rachel, John Jr., Mickayla, and Michelle. She is also survived by many great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late William J. Dowding, Sr. Grace was employed as a painter for many years for Browne and Sharpe and was a lifetime member of the Oakland Beach Volunteer Fire Barn.

Her funeral will be held Friday, September 7, 2018 at 9 AM from the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Avenue, followed by a service at 10 AM in the First Congregational Church of Warwick, Oakland Beach Avenue, Warwick. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, Greenwich Avenue, Warwick. Visiting hours Thursday 4-8 PM.
