Ronald N. Oates, Sr. Obituary

Ronald N. Oates, Sr., 84, of West Warwick passed away on Friday, January 3, 2020 at the Roger Williams Hospital in Providence surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late June A. (Grant) Oates.
He was a born in Norwich, Connecticut on May 24, 1935, a son of the late Harold and Beatrice (Hebert) Oates.
Ronald was a general foreman at the Electric Boat facility of the General Dynamics Company in Groton, Connecticut for over 39 years before retiring in 1997. He was a Coast Guard veteran. He was a life member of the V.F.W. Langevin-Boudreau Post # 449 of West Warwick and was a past committee chairman of the Boy Scouts Troop # 2 of Arctic.
He leaves two sons, Ronald N. Oates, Jr. and wife, Kam of Tennessee and Thomas P. Oates and wife, Donna of West Warwick; a daughter, Elizabeth Bowie and favorite son-in-law, Robert of West Warwick; five grandchildren, Thomas Oates, II (Kristyn), Christopher Oates (Ashley), Brian Bowie (Gwen), Max Oates (Stacey), and Harris Oates; three great grandchildren, Caden Oates, Connor Oates, and Piper Oates; many nieces and nephews and of course, his beloved dog, Brandi. He was the brother of the late Beatrice Edwards.
His funeral will be held on Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at 9 am from Potvin-Quinn Funeral Home, 45 Curson Street, West Warwick. Mass of Christian at 10 am in Christ the King Church, 120 Legris Avenue, West Warwick. Interment with military honors will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Warwick. Visitation in the funeral home on Monday, January 6, 2020 from 5-7 pm.
